On 4 September 2026, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a landmark resolution establishing 27 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage, every year, for every child.
The 193 member UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution creating a permanent global platform to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen action for the health, education and protection of children, especially girls.
What began as a call by Just Rights for Children has now become an International Day recognised by the world, a landmark step towards ending child, early and forced marriage. This is a beginning, not an end point. Join us in building a Child Marriage Free World.
