ABOUT THE LAW AND ANY EXCEPTIONS
The Civil Code (2007) states that 18 is the legal age of marriage, but allows marriage between an adult and a minor from the age of 16 with parental or judicial consent. However, the 1989 Law on Marriage and Family allows for marriages below the age of 18 if a girl is pregnant, and sets no absolute minimum age.
