OUR CURRENT WORK

WORKING WITH GOVERNMENTS
In 2024, the governments of India and Nepal committed to work to end child marriage in their countries. The Child Marriage Free Bharat (India) and Child Marriage Free Nepal campaigns will be delivered at the national and local levels through a combination of government staff and our civil society partners in each country. In 2025, we aim to work directly with more governments to accelerate an end to child marriage.

WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES
​
Following the success of the first Global Pledging Week, we’re working with participating organisations and communities to sustain their impact to prevent child marriages. This includes supporting partners to hold awareness-raising events with children and young people and advocate with local governments and child protection teams.
We're also connecting like-minded organisations in localities and countries to build national capacity among civil society organisations working to end child marriage.

Child Marriage Free World is a campaign delivered by Just Rights for Children. Just Rights for Children is a non-profit organisation registered in the United States.

Child Marriage Free World is a global campaign which aims to end child marriage, community by community.
​
We do this by working in partnership with schools and colleges, and grassroots, community, youth-led, and non-governmental organisations. We also work in partnership with governments to tackle the root causes of child marriage.

OUR HISTORY
​
The pledge to end child marriage was an initiative that began in India in October 2021, when women and supportive activists organised events across the country in opposition to child marriage. After the incredible and fast-growing success of Child Marriage Free India’s local pledging events, which have now seen more than 50 million people take part, Child Marriage Free World was inaugurated in 2024.
All individuals and organisations who want to end child marriage and who commit to do all they can to eliminate child marriage in their community and the world are encouraged to take the pledge and take further action in their communities.
The first action of Child Marriage Free World was to initiate pledging events all over the world during our Global Pledging Week to End Child Marriage in December 2024. During the week, pledging events took place in schools, communities, sports groups, faith groups, universities, and displacement camps in more than 30 countries around the world. ​​​​
