ABOUT THE LAW AND ANY EXCEPTIONS

The Muslim Personal Law Act 1991 allows child marriage to be arranged by a guardian with the permissin and consent given to the husband. It also states that a child from the age of 10 cannot be married without the permission of a judge, with proof that the marriage is in the best interests of the child, the suitability of the husband, and his ability to pay a dowry.
