ABOUT THE LAW AND ANY EXCEPTIONS

Bolivia allows exceptions to the minimum age of marriage. With parental consent, girls and boys can marry at 16 years of age.

CAN MARRIED OR PREGNANT GIRLS GO TO SCHOOL?

In the Code on Children and Adolescents, discrimination based on pregnancy in the education system is considered a form of violence, and measures are listed in the code to prevent, stop and eliminate violence, aggression and/or harassment in educational units or centres. However, no law explicitly protects the right to education for married, pregnant, or parenting girls.
