On 18 June 2026, CHFG engaged community elders in Mape Kpekpo, North Tongu District, Ghana, in a dialogue on child marriage and teenage pregnancy as part of the #100daysofaction to child marriage. The visit focused on building shared understanding and encouraging local leadership in protecting children.
A total of 400 people participated in the session, and all of them took a pledge to help end child marriage. Simple and clear messages were shared about how child marriage and teenage pregnancy affect children’s health, education, and future opportunities, particularly for girls.

Community elders listened, reflected, and shared their perspectives during the discussion. Their participation and public commitment signalled local support for protecting children and promoting safer, healthier pathways for young people.
Engaging traditional and community leaders is an important step in addressing harmful practices. When leaders speak openly and take a stand, it can influence wider community attitudes and encourage families to support children’s rights and education.
