In Kenya, an event was organised by a christian community in Kakuma refugee camp.
Refugees camps often see high rates of child marriage making events like these particularly important.
Faith leaders from diverse traditions came together in the refugee camp to discuss the harmful effects of early child marriage and explore practical solutions.
The event was held with a faith school and had a very positive impact. 50 people took part and were not only motivated by the training, but shared valuable ideas and practical suggestions on ending child marriage.
Each of the participants committed to taking concrete actions within their faith communities to raise awareness, advocate for children’s rights, and support initiatives that help end early child marriage.
We look forward to seeing the future activities and it is great to see how events during the Global Interfaith Weekend can spark wider initiatives and actions against child marriage.
More information about the Global Interfaith Weekend is available on the Global Interfaith Weekend to End Child Marriage website.
