On 29 December 2025, a community awareness and pledging event was held at Katerampungu Church in Katerampungu Village, Muramira, Uganda, as part of the 100 Days of Action to End Child Marriage. Organised by Desk of Hope International Ministries Rukungiri, the gathering brought together more than 150 community members to reflect on the impacts of child marriage and to take collective action to protect children.

The session focused on raising awareness of how child marriage affects children’s health, education, and overall wellbeing, while emphasising the shared responsibility of families, faith institutions, and communities in preventing early and forced marriage. Through open discussion, participants explored how community leadership, guidance, and accountability can play a critical role in safeguarding children’s rights and futures.

Community members were encouraged to speak out against harmful practices, support children at risk, and guide families towards choices that prioritise education and wellbeing. The discussions reinforced the importance of collective action and community ownership in creating lasting change.
The event concluded with a pledging moment, during which 110 participants committed to working towards ending child marriage in their community. This shared commitment reflected the growing determination within Katerampungu Village to stand together for children’s rights and to contribute to building a child marriage-free world.
