In Zimbabwe Shungu High school, a Roman Catholic Church in Kwekwe, 500 students took part in an event against child marriage on Saturday.

The students learnt about the causes of child marriage, its effects and ways of preventing it. They also learnt about the wider aim of creating a child marriage free world and the Global Interfaith Weekend that was taking place in countries across the world.

Students not only took notes but they also developed their own poems and speeches to share their perspectives on child marriage.

At the end the students decided to take the pledge against child marriage, raising hands and the fliers against child marriage and pacing a banner on the wall as a declaration to the wider community against child marriage.
More information about the Global Interfaith Weekend is available on the Global Interfaith Weekend to End Child Marriage website.
