On 21 January 2026, PAAenfance RDC organised a school engagement activity at Elimu Bora School Complex in North Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo, as part of the 100 Days of Action to End Child Marriage. The session aimed to raise awareness among students and teachers about child marriage and to encourage commitment to protecting children’s rights through education and community action.
Teachers at the school played an active role in guiding discussions with students about what child marriage is, why it is harmful, and how it affects children’s education, health, and future opportunities. The session helped students understand that child marriage is not only a personal issue, but one that concerns families, schools, and the wider community.

A total of 1,567 students took part in the activity, including 678 girls and 889 boys. All participating students took the pledge to stand against child marriage. Teachers also expressed their support for continued awareness and prevention efforts within the school environment.

This engagement highlighted the important role that schools and educators play in prevention. By supporting students with information and encouraging open discussion, school communities can help children recognise their rights and speak up for themselves and others. PAAenfance RDC continues to work with local partners to strengthen these efforts and support communities in building a future free from child marriage.
