On 20 January 2026, Agapao Vision DRC organised a large-scale awareness session at the Turunga Institute as part of the global 100 Days of Action to End Child Marriage. The programme brought together more than 600 students and 16 teachers, creating a space for learning, dialogue, and collective commitment to protect children’s rights.

During the session, participants explored the harmful impacts of child marriage on children’s education, health, safety, and overall well-being. Facilitators emphasised that child marriage is not only a personal or family matter, but a community concern that requires shared responsibility and action. Students and teachers were encouraged to reflect on how they can help create safer environments where children are supported to stay in school and pursue their aspirations.

At the close of the programme, students and teachers together committed to stand against child marriage and to act as ambassadors for change within their communities. The collective promise was read aloud by a girl student, a boy student, and a teacher, symbolising shared leadership and a common vision for a child

marriage free future.

This event at the Turunga Institute represents an important step in the 100 Days of Action, showing how schools can play a central role in prevention. By equipping young people and educators with knowledge and confidence, communities are strengthening their ability to challenge harmful practices and ensure that every child can grow, learn, and choose their own path.
