On 12th January 2026, Danmasara Primary and Junior Secondary School in Jigawa State became the starting point of a powerful collective movement to end child marriage. The school hosted a community awareness programme that officially marked the launch of #100DaysofAction in Jigawa.

This event not only got teachers and students together but also got other school authorites, community leaders, and key representatives from the the Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Jigawa State Ministry of Education. Everyone was united with one shared purpose: protecting children and safeguarding their futures.
A total of 85 participants took part in the programme, including 50 adults and 35 children. During the engagement, 62 pledges were recorded from individuals committing to take action against child marriage within their networks.

Hon. Hajiya Hadiza Abdulwahab, Commissioner of Women Affairs, emphasized the critical need for greater awareness on child protection among students, parents, and communities. She highlighted that prioritizing education for every child is central to the collective effort to end child marriage.
Hon. Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, Commissioner for Basic Education, reinforced the role of educators in this movement, stating:
"We must now harness this momentum, ensuring that every teacher actively participates in this transformative journey to safeguard our children’s futures."

The event created a safe space for dialogue, learning, and commitment. It was covered by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), helping amplify the message beyond the school grounds and into homes and communities across the region.
What unfolded in Danmasara School was not a one-day activity, but the beginning of sustained action.
